A Fond Farewell to Chris Butler After 22 Years at DASA

After an incredible 22 years with DASA, we say a fond farewell to Chris Butler as he heads into a well-earned retirement.

Chris’ journey with us began back in 2004, when things looked very different to how they do today. “I was doing some work for an agency at the time,” Chris recalls, “and DASA was still based at The Stables in Levenshulme when I did my first few drainage jobs.”

It wasn’t long before Darryl brought Chris on full-time — and, as he puts it, “the rest is history.”

Those early days came with their own challenges. “There were no Sat Navs back then,” Chris laughs. “We had a box in the back of the van full of A–Z maps to get us from job to job.” The role also meant plenty of travel and time away from home — something that was simply part of the job at the time.

But for Chris, it was the people and the camaraderie that made it all worthwhile. “It was hard work, but we worked with some great people. We had a good laugh along the way and some great nights out too.”

After more than two decades in the industry, Chris admits it feels strange to be stepping away. “It does feel odd leaving after all this time, but I’m ready to put the rods away and switch off the jetter for good.”

Retirement, however, is something he’s very much looking forward to. Chris plans to spend more time with his family and indulge in one of his biggest passions — fly fishing. “I’m looking forward to getting the fishing rods out and spending more time doing what I enjoy. And most of all…no more early Monday alarms — just well-earned, relaxed Sundays!”

From everyone at DASA:

Chris, thank you for your years of dedicated service, commitment, and the part you’ve played in our journey. We wish you all the very best in your retirement — enjoy every minute, you’ve earned it.
